This was my recreation of a card in my Magic the Gathering deck called, Thassa’s Oracle. The original card was created by artist Jesper Ejsing. I wanted to experiment with this particular card as I am widely familiar with its context. In my illustration I played with the quality of line and color variation. Although the content does not stray from the original, the contrast in color and variation in line does. I enjoyed experimenting with these techniques. I later applied some into common attributes in my future illustrations. I would love to develop a series of illustrations based upon this prototype at some point in the future.
